Prof. Massimo Massi Benedetti is Chairman of the EUBIROD Network, President and Scientific Director of the HIRS, a Specialist in Endocrinology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Massi Benedetti is the ; Senior Programme Advisor IDF Brussels Belgium. Previously, Dr. Massi Benedetti was A/Prof of Endocrinology, University of Perugia; President of School of Podology and Nursing; chair of the coordination office of the Umbria Reference Centre of Diabetes; Co-director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Diabetes Care: Member of National Committee of Italian Ministry of health for the National Plan on Diabetes. Scientific Director of KFAS Dasman Centre for Treatment and Research in Diabetes, Kuwait. Associated partner of EU consortia: EURODIABETA; DIABCARD 1-4; DIABCARE1- 3;MFIT; DIASTYLE 1-2; ADICOL; IMMIDIAB. Coordinator of BIRO and EUBIROD EU projects.

Prof.Fabrizio Carinci, Professor of Health Systems and Policy at the School of Health Sciences, University of Surrey. A graduate in Statistical and Economical Sciences, he has worked for over 23 years at the interface of policy and academia as a Consultant and Technical Coordinator of Regional, National and European Projects. Collaborator of the European Commission as external evaluator in FP7/SANCO Public Health program, senior advisor of WHO Europe for the Tallinn Charter. Senior consultant at AGENAS, Italy, for the Evaluation of the Italian Health System. Formerly Senior Officer at the Italian Ministry of Health; A/Prof Biostatistics and Director of the Centre for Health Systems Research Monash University Australia; Head of the Unit of Statistics and Information Systems, Istituto Mario Negri, Italy. He has published over 45 papers in international scientific journals as a specialist in the field of health information systems, quality and outcomes indicators and health systems performance. He has previously coordinated the BIRO WP Statistical Engine and the EUBIROD WP on Epidemiological Analysis.

Prof. Luigi Uccioli, Professor of Endocrinology and Geriatric Medicine, University of Tor Vergata, holds a Honor in Medicine and Surgery at the Universita' Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (1980), postgraduate degree in Diabetes at the Universita' Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (1983), postgraduate degree in Endocrinology at the Universita' di Roma " La Sapienza" (1986). He has a long research experience on diabetic late complications, including neuropathy and diabetic foot. He has contributed to high impact scientific publications addressing the role of autonomic neuropathy on the skin microcirculatory network of diabetic patients and its role in the pathogenesis of foot ulcerations. He has been Chairman of the Study Group on Diabetic Foot for the Italian Society of Diabetes, Treasurer of the Diabetic Foot Study Group for the European Association for the Studies on Diabetes (EASD), Member of the working group developing the International Guidelines on Diabetic Foot (IWGDF), participant in the EURODIALE network involving excellence centres for diabetic foot care in Europe, and Member of the Scientific Committee of the Italian Society of Diabetes. He has authored over 100 articles published on peer reviewed scientific journals and a frequent invited speaker and chairman in many national and international simposia. Currently, his interest are focused on the treatment of diabetic patients with peripheral vascular disease and critical limb ischemia at risk of major amputation and amputation rates as a measure of quality of care.

Dr.Patrizia Borboni and Dr.Fabrizio Jacoangeli are Endocrinologist Clinical Research Fellows at the University of Tor Vergata, specialists in the diabetes fisiopathology and late complications.

Dr.Concetta Tania Di lorio, International expert on privacy impact assessment of EU health information systems, wil be involved in the project through subcontracting of Serectrix snc. She is a Graduate in Law at the University of Bologna and holds a Master of Public Health awarded by Monash University. Since 2002 she has specialized in the preparation, implementation, evaluation of EU research project. Collaborator of DG-RESEARCH as expert evaluator of health projects and members of Ethics Review Panels, she has developed specific competence on privacy issues in health information. She has published extensively on the subject and developed new approaches for privacy assessment. She has coordinated for Serectrix the WP “Privacy Impact Assessment" in BIRO and a targeted task on Privacy Performance Assessment in EUBIROD. She is currently a Member of the OECD Advisory Panel on Health Information Infrastructure

Stefano Gualdi is a senior open source programmer with a specific expertise on the development of interfaced distributed databases and statistical analysis systems. He has been a principal developer of the BIRO system and one of the key IT experts of the EUBIROD network.
