EUBIROD Diabetes Report
EUROPEAN BIRO DIABETES INDICATORS - YEAR 2010
N=199,902
In this page we present a sample BIRO report valid for educational as a part of the dissemination
activity of the BIRO Academy.
PLEASE NOTE: THE REPORT IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR METHODOLOGICAL USE - RESULTS ARE NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF DIABETES EPIDEMIOLOGY OR
QUALITY OF CARE IN PARTICIPATING CENTRES!
Between 2008-2012, the project "EUropean Best Information through Regional Outcomes in Diabetes" (EUBIROD)
has realized a system capable of collecting data and delivering reports on diabetes in Europe
most rapidly, at a minimal cost and with the highest levels of privacy and data protection.
INDIVIDUAL DATA NEVER LEAVE THE LOCAL DATABASE.
In EUBIROD, different sources use the BIRO software consistently to create and exchange aggregate data, according to a
standardised format. The open source software is continuously developed with the direct contribution of associated partners.
The BIRO system allows complete interoperability without interphering with the local organization.
In other terms, each EUBIROD Diabetes Report, whether produced by one or more centres, is by definition entirely
comparable across the whole collaboration. This is a defining property of BIRO, allowing reproducibility of the outputs
across the entire reporting chain from provider, to regional, national and international level.
For a sample of reports produced at provider and regional level in the Umbria Region of Italy see here.
To check how these have contributed to the report at the higher national level, see the EUBIROD/SID Italian Report.
The European report is built at annual terms by collecting aggregate tables from all partners.
The whole process can be completed in few hours, as the analytical burden is distributed on all partners.
Here you find the output of the TEST RUN of the EUBIROD Diabetes Report, realised in 2012 with data for
the reference year 2010.
