The project "EUropean Best Information through Regional Outcomes in Diabetes" (EUBIROD), operational between 2008-2012, included the data collection and analysis envisaged for the exerimental SID EUBIROD Report. In this framework, we analysed data the Services of Diabetology for the years 2009-2010. The collaboration with SID contributed to the delivery of the SID EUBIROD Report Italy and the EUBIROD European Diabetes Report.
The unique characteristic of the EUBIROD report is that the diabetes report produced by each participating centre is produced applying the same standard European criteria adopted by 19 European countries. Therefore the structure of the EUBIROD European Diabetes Report is directly comparable to that used for the EUBIROD European Diabetes Report and the EUBIROD Diabetes Report of the Umbria Region.
Furthermore, each centre is capable of producing own report independently as many times as deemed appropriate through the use of the BIRO open source software.
Using BIRO, the transmission of data to the Coordinating Centre can be done only using aggregate data, thus the protocol guarantees total control over the protection of privacy and personal data with maximum transparency and standardization of gathered data.

The map shows the geographical coverage of the EUBIROD cohort that participated to the data collection from the 15 centres partecipating to the SID EUBIROD Report 2010.
